Group Music Therapy
JIG Music Therapy provides music therapy groups to community and in-patient mental health facilities in Geelong and Ballarat. In our groups we create a safe and inviting space where consumers can choose to open up and share their feelings and experiences with the group, using music as the basis of the group process. Consumers might also choose to simply be present within the group and allow the music itself to shift their mood, bring new reflections, provide solace, or a sense of connectedness.

Music therapy groups in mental health settings can include:
-
Music-assisted counselling
-
Song writing
-
Singing familiar songs together (therapeutic singing)
-
Drumming
-
Improvisation
-
Guided relaxation to music

If you are interested in co-facilitating mental health groups with our JIG team, please contact us to find out more about what we can offer.

If you are an individual who would like to access music therapy groups in the community, or would like support to access other community music groups, please contact us to discuss.
